25 Days: Simple Ways to Add a Little Holiday Sparkle to Your Home

The holiday season is upon us and you know what that means – it’s time for gatherings with friends and family, shopping, cooking and of course, decorating! With all the holidays to dos, decorating your home can sometimes be a daunting task—but it doesn’t have to be. Here are a few, simple suggestions on how you can add a little sparkle to your home this holiday season.

Add to what you already have. Replace your standard candles with seasonal-colored ones, dress up your chandelier with shades, garland or ornaments, and change out area rugs with festive holiday designs.

Add sparkle—literally. String lights into the plants you have around your home for an instant holiday look.

Put those holiday cards on display. One of the highlights of the holiday season for many is receiving holiday cards from loved ones, so why not show them off? Purchase a card holder to display your cards, or get creative and make your own.

Dress up your fireplace and mantle. Cut a few branches off your holiday tree and arrange them on your mantle for an instant holiday update. Consider stringing some lights into the foliage for added pizzazz. Remove any existing décor hanging above your fireplace and replace with a holiday wreath. Arrange a basket of pinecones and place next to the hearth.

Jazz up that table! Place seasonal candlesticks or a beautiful holiday arrangement in the center of your table. Add colorful linens and chargers, and pull out your nice china. For an extra special touch, add personalized name cards for guests, and tie holiday ribbon to the backs of chairs.

Put a mark on your mirrors. Wrap tiny lights around the frame of a large mirror or affix a swag of foliage right above.

Give your windows wow! Hang a boxwood, pine or red-berry wreath in each window with satin ribbon.

Don’t forget the bedrooms. Replace your everyday shams and quilts with festive holiday ones and voila, you have an instant holiday look!

Update your bathroom decor. Out with the everyday towels and in with the holiday-themed ones. Add some foliage from your holiday tree to your countertops, and complete with a beautiful holiday candle.

Put a touch of magic on your staircase and railings. For a dramatic holiday effect, weave garland, with or without lights, around your banisters.

Exude the magic of the season outdoors. Dress up your front door with a holiday wreath, and place holiday trees, florals or lanterns with seasonal candles on your porch. Do you have a sitting area on your porch? If so, add a few seasonal colored pillows to complete your holiday look.
